2008-03-11: Plague of Frogs

Of course this date is now 7 months after the river was struck. This was the collapse of the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis. Time for the next round of Exodus Plauge fulfillment.

Headlines ranged in 3 key areas. First, and most public was a collapse of Bear Stearns investment bank. The Federal Reserve's response was a hint as to what was coming later in the year with a full banking system bailout. There was also controversy surrounding Jeremiah Wright in the Obama Presidential campaign. Finally, there was the resignation of Eliot Spitzer, governor of New York.

Fulfillment: Collapse of Bear Stearns

The final death spiral of Bear Stearns began on Monday, March 10, 2008, 1 day ahead of the theoretical time.

The trigger was a down grade by Moody’s on the quality of Bear Stearns related bonds.

This lead to what was in effect a Bank Run on Bear Stearns with investors moving quickly withdraw their investments. By Friday, March 14, 2008, for the first time since the Great Depression, the Federal Reserve stepped in and provided emergency funding to a non-bank.

Over the following weekend S&P downgraded Bear Stearns debt to junk, which was considered by many the tipping point where a merger had to be negotiated over the weekend. When the markets opened on Monday, nobody would trade with Bear, who had about $13.4 trillion dollars in notational value contracts on its books. Those contracts would start unwinding uncontrollably, and the natural consequence would have been a collapse of the financial system.

SO: the Federal Reserve arranged over the weekend for a buyout of Bear Stearns by JP Morgan, themselves owners of about 39 percent of Bear Stearns outstanding stock. This shotgun marriage set a final share price of $2 per share, with a $30 Billion non-recourse loan from the Federal Reserve, for a company that had peaked in 2007 at over $170 per share. (Ongoing discussion have raised the offered price to $10, and litigation will likely delay any final merger agreement.)

By Monday evening, March 17, 2008, the evening news was filled with headlines on the collapse of the firm and its buyout, another public witness to the collapse of the financial economy.

Bear Stearns was considered by the Federal Reserve as being "to big to fail." Unwinding of over $13 Trillion in contracts would have sunk the economy. But at what cost was the market saved?

Federal Reserve Takes Control

The Federal Reserve’s intervention in Bear Stearns was not the only Fed headline for the Plague of Frogs.

On March 11, 2008, the theoretical plague date, the Federal Reserve announced the opening of the TSLF another system for pumping the economy.  Modeled after what the bank of Japan did when a similar mortgage mess hit there in the late 1980s.

This may be why gold and oil went up in the week following. By Monday, 1 week later, gold had touched $1000. The highest price in a generation.

Investors cannot trust the Fed to preserve the value of US currency, and are starting to factor in a risk of collapse, which of course is the frogs-as-aliens form of this headline, and a collapsed currency will drive that theme home.

Jeremiah Wright Controversy

On March 13, 2008, ABC News, owned by Disney, began airing parts of Jeremiah Wright's most controversial sermons. This was an attempt by Disney to smear US Presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Jeremiah Wright was considered 1 of the 10 most influential black pastors in America, and his church claimed an estimated 8,500 members. Wright had already announced his intention to retire so he became an easy target. Many of his sermons were also available for purchase on video from the Church store, which made for easy TV picking. Disney's strategy was to take down Obama through association to Wright's firebrand style of preaching.

Of the thousands of possible sound bites, Disney chose 2 for its assault, the first a clip from Jeremiah's post 911 sermon, another where he used the words "Damn America" in relation to its treatment of minorities.

Disney's selection of post 911 sermon material is exquisite in that the March 11, 2008, theoretical date folds through the Bible Time day-for-a-year time line to September, 2001. Disney was in effect calling up memory of 911 at the time when 911 was close on the charts. (For those with Java based Bible Time charts, see page 715, near the top.)

The title of the 911 sermon was, "The Day of Jerusalem's Fall" and his most controversial point was that the foreign policy of the United States had returned to haunt the country. This is, of course, the same position as Ron Paul on 911, and is completely consistent with what the Bible Time Time Line has to say on the matter.

Clinton's bombing of Baghdad, December 18, 1998, exactly 1000 days before 911, had now come home to roost. Just as King Saul's inauguration was the day-for-a-year pattern headline for 911, so too had America rejected God as king and suffered the consequences. Starting on 911 God was not longer protecting American from its enemies. Ron Paul and Jeremiah Wright are simply public voices for what God was doing on 911.

A quick review is important: Clinton himself bombed Baghdad in order to avoid impeachment, it was the "Wag the Dog" scenario. Clinton had turned a domestic dispute into an international matter. Clinton was also the target for the November, 1998, replay of the Sodom and Gomorrah test on sexual immorality. Was sexual immorality still sin in the United States? The US House of Representatives had passed the test, it was still a sin, by voting to impeach Clinton. The US Senate failed the test, by failing to remove Clinton. Citizens of Baghdad suffered as a consequence of that Congressional struggle.

This linkage to 911 for the March 11, 2008 date is in part why Elliot Spitzer would also resign as Governor of New York State. In all these cases the issue is sexual immorality.

Disney also selected some flamboyant video where Wright dealt with mal-treatment of immigrants and minorities. Like 911, Wright's coverage of basic facts was flawless, which is why 8,500 people would call his church their own. But Wright's style and certain sound bites could easily turn off the average, especially white and secular, TV viewer in the United States.

The white Main Stream Media in the United States neither liked Jeremiah's facts, nor his standard Black preaching style and so they paraded his video clips on their network for all to watch. Transcripts are on the Wikipedia Article.

Barack Obama, future Pharaoh, had a problem. Obama was being plagued with this frog, this "riviting mouth of a head." It took Obama 2 different speeches for this to finally subside. In the first speech, March 14, 2008 Obama affirmed his support of Wright, and how Wright was woven into Obama's own life. Obama rested on Wright's retirement as the basis for clearing the controversy. In the second speech, March 18, 2008, Obama had to disavow his association with Wright in order to retain his favor with the media and the secular voting public.

What is so important about these 2 speeches is that in the first Obama likens, or at least carefully links, himself to Wright. This is importantly revealing. The same action going on against future Pharaoh is also the action that this future Pharaoh will have on the rest of Egypt.

Remember, the text of the story says that something coming out of the major headlines for this date will eventually end up in Pharaoh's bed. Something sent by God himself. Pharaoh's bed is the bed located in the upstairs of the White House in Washington DC. The tide was about to turn away from Hillary Clinton, and permanently favor Barack Obama, the route to the White House bed was soon to be set. This happened because of the second speech.

In his second speech dealing with Jeremiah Wright, Obama separated himself from Jeremiah Wright. In order to win the votes of the secular public this was important to do. Wright himself had predicted in early 2007 that this was something Obama would need to do in order to win the presidency. This second speech is highly regarded even months after giving it and it was one of the key speeches that solidified his campaign. It also established Obama as the frog headed for Pharaoh's bed.

Chances are that the issues Disney selected to plague Obama are the same ones that will hit the country as a whole during Obama's time sleeping in the White House. Time will tell.

Resignation of Eliot Spitzer

The most dramatic headline, on the expected day of the replay, was the resignation of New York State Governor Eliot Spitzer. Spitzer, or "Spitter" is a direct play on the Hebrew word for "frog" sharing several of the same key letters and at the Hebrew Word Picture level playing to the feature of frogs where they spit out their sticky tongue in order to catch bugs.

While in office Spitzer had been involved in a high level prostitution ring, and on March 10, 2008, the New York Times published material about his involvement which had been leaked from the FBI investigation. On the 11th the news media nationally were dealing with what was going on in New York State and then on March 12th Spitzer resigned, rather than face impeachment.

The text of the plague mentions bedrooms, and Spitzer was in trouble for what was going on in bed, a key aspect of this plague.

Blind Replacement

David Paterson was sworn in as Spitzer’s replacement on March 17, 2008. Paterson had been elected on the same ticket as Spitzer as the New York State Lieutenant Governor, and had been in office along with Spitzer since January 1, 2007.

Paterson is distinguished in several regards, the most important to the prophetic stories is that he is blind, having been blinded by an infection at the age of 3.

The date for the plague of frogs was coincident with a date inferred by the chronology of the book of Acts, and that story is the story of Elymas, blinded for a time over his lack of faith.

The following is the story from Acts.

In general every group of people associated through civil government is embodied by the person ruling that body as king, or in common modern practice the governor or president. The changing of that office from one person to another is often times the way a prophetic story is fulfilled.

In this case New York State has figuratively become blind, and in need of someone to lead the state around by the hand.

Spitzer’s replacement by Paterson is a perfect prophetic match, weaving the various stories together well.

In general the Biblical character "Eli" is the blind priest who does not want to reign in his sons. Variations on the name, like "Elihu" in the Book of Job, are generally also blind or ignorant priests, who do not fulfill their calling. That we would see blindness as a theme with Eliot Spitzer can be inferred from the story. Though it suggests Spitzer himself was as blind, if not more so, than Paterson. Since it was Spitzer who failed to reign in his tongue.

Broader Implications of Spitzer’s Resignation

As the governor of New York Spitzer’s role in the general financial crisis that started with the first plague, the plague of Blood on the Nile, was not obvious, especially not on the date of his resignation. After several weeks, though, the pieces of puzzle began to fall into place.

As both the former Attorney General and then Governor of New York Spitzer had been involved in the regulation of New York State based Investment Banks, Monoline insurers and the general regulation of the Stock Markets themselves.

Spitzer’s involvement in the financial crisis that in mid February Spitzer published an editorial in the Washington Post and placed the blame for the granting of sub-prime, borrower-can-never-repay loans squarely on the Bush administration.

Spitzer had gone public because his and other state AG’s attempts at stopping previous plague before it could take root had been foiled by the Bush administration pulling an 1863 law barring state regulation of federally chartered banks. This basically prevented all state consumer protection laws from having any meaning to the likes of Citi or BofA, or any of the other key sources of sub-prime loans.

By taking out Spitzer, this essentially lone voice was taken out of the way, and instead the Feds have issued $200 Billion to attempt to bail out the banks instead.  The same day, March 11, the Federal Reserve opened another venue to fund banks and within a week dropped interest rates too, a step that usually tanks the currency relative to other currencies (ie as measured across the borders, a feature of the details of the frog’s plague.)

So the functioning of this plague of frogs is another month of more financial troubles, this one probably focused on currency and cross border transactions.  Dropping interest rates, as the fed has done, favors bankers over citizens, who’s dollars loose value each time rates drop.

This mid-February editorial is now considered the reason why the White House had the FBI file leaked. Their purpose was to take out Spitzer and send a warning to the other 49 states not to interfere with the Federal enslavement of mortgage borrowers across the country.

Prostitution Linkage

The Bible gives a pretty extensive model for how the world works from God’s perspective. In general people, especially groups of people, reap what they have sown. Other Biblical vocabulary discusses footholds, and the presence of footholds is what causes people to fail, and not reach their full potential.

In this case there is a large mass of sub-prime borrowers, members of Pharaoh’s public, who’s immediate rescue was blocked by the prostitution of a state governor. His story reveals the general problem in the community being plagued. Prostitutions, in all of its forms including spiritual prostitution against God himself, is the root of this plague. The presence of prostitution is why there is no rescue, no one to step up and stop the banks from stealing essentially everything everyone owns.

This is of course Pharaoh’s pattern, enslaving his people, and use of leverage to a level where no borrower has a hope of repaying is one way that continues.

Prostitution is in effect paying for something the buyer should not have and the seller should not be selling. This is how the banks run, and it is also how the housing industry generally runs as well.

Footnote

On November 6, 2008, charges against Spitzer were dropped. The timing is interesting because this is 2 days after the end of the plague on cattle. The Bear Stearns collapse was simply the prelude to that plague. Apparently the news of the dropped charges was held until after the election.
