This is the modern prophetic replay of the end of the plague of frogs and the replay of the Plague of Gnats on Egypt. The associated Bible Text and key times are given at the bottom of this page.
There are 3 aspects to the the plague that land on this date.
About 2 weeks ahead of this date there was a grounding of MD-80s for emergency inspections. This grounding involved issues of wiring bundles in the wheel wells of commercial passenger carrying MD-80 aircraft.
Various airlines fly this model, but American Airlines has by far the most, over 300, and so was the airline most impacted.
Beginning on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, American had to again ground MD-80s because the FAA felt that some of the wiring harnesses had not been secured with string wrappers that were close enough together. The FAA wanted this work redone. On that day over 460 domestic flights were grounded, causing a pile of planes, passengers, and luggage.
The next day, April 9, 2008, over 1100 domestic flights were grounded with the bulk of them (1094) were again American Airlines flights, though some Delta and Alaska flights were also grounded.
On Thursday, April 10, 2008, another 933 flights were grounded. Though the media reports from the previous 2 days was expected to minimize the surprise nature of the flight cancellations on passengers.
On Friday, April 11, 2008, 595 additional American Airlines flights where canceled.
Over 250,000 passengers spread across most major US airports were impacted by this sudden cancellation of flights.
The Key Issue in the grounding of the MD-80s was the US FAA's utter disregard for the traveling public. The air-worthiness directive had been issued in September of 2006, 18 months before the grounding.
If there was really a safety problem, the wiring harness problem should have been addressed long before April of 2008. If there was NOT a safety problem, then the traveling public should not have been subjected to over 3000 canceled flights. Either way, the FAA was not paying attention to details, and did not care about the average traveler. To the FAA administration, the public was simply a gnat that could be ignored.
The prophetic story involves gnats, small things that fly, and frogs, small things that hop. These aspects of this plague were seen in the fulfillment headlines with the airplanes (gnats) and the piles of people that were left on the ground.
There had been similarly sized weather related airline groundings, and there had been a total stop of airline flights at 911, but there has never been a regulation related grounding of airline flights of this magnitude before. In this case over 3100 flights were canceled.
There were minor headlines out of Israel, and a very edgy Israeli public, because of high-alert military status across the Israel-Syria border. 2 specific headlines are worth noting here which may been seen as more significant to this date in the future.

2 Exodus 8:10
2 Exodus 8:10-19 10And he said, To morrow. And he said, Be it according to thy word: that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the LORD our God. 11And the frogs shall depart from thee, and from thy houses, and from thy servants, and from thy people; they shall remain in the river only. 12And Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh: and Moses cried unto the LORD because of the frogs which he had brought against Pharaoh. 13And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the villages, and out of the fields. 14And they gathered them together upon heaps: and the land stank. 15But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart, and hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.
16And the LORD said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt. 17And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt. 18And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not: so there were lice upon man, and upon beast. 19Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaohs heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.(KJV)

2 Exodus 8:10-19 10And he said to him, Tomorrow. And Moses said, Be it according to your word, that you may know that there is none like the LORD our God. 11And the frogs shall depart from you and from your house and from your servants and from your people; they shall remain in the river only. 12And Moses and Aaron went out from the presence of Pharaoh; and Moses prayed before the LORD because of the frogs which he had brought against Pharaoh. 13And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and the frogs died that were in the houses and in the courtyards and in the fields. 14And they gathered them together in heaps; and the land stank. 15And when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart and would not listen to them, as the LORD had said to Moses.
16¶ And the LORD said to Moses, Say to Aaron, Lift up your staff and smite the dust of the earth, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt. 17And he did so; and Aaron lifted up his hand with his staff and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice on men and on cattle; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt. 18And the magicians did the same by means of their magic to bring forth lice, but they could not get rid of the lice; so there were lice on men and on cattle. 19Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, This is the finger of God; and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as the LORD had said. 2 Exodus 8:10-19 10And he said, "Tomorrow." Moses said, "Be it as you say, that you may know that there is no one like the LORD our God. 11The frogs shall depart from you and your houses and your servants and your people; they shall be left only in the Nile." 12So Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh; and Moses cried to the LORD concerning the frogs, as he had agreed with Pharaoh. 13And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; the frogs died out of the houses and courtyards and out of the fields. 14And they gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank. 15But when Pharaoh saw that there was a respite, he hardened his heart, and would not listen to them; as the LORD had said.
16Then the LORD said to Moses, "Say to Aaron, `Stretch out your rod and strike the dust of the earth, that it may become gnats throughout all the land of Egypt.'" 17And they did so; Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and struck the dust of the earth, and there came gnats on man and beast; all the dust of the earth became gnats throughout all the land of Egypt. 18The magicians tried by their secret arts to bring forth gnats, but they could not. So there were gnats on man and beast. 19And the magicians said to Pharaoh, "This is the finger of God." But Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them; as the LORD had said.(RSV)
2 Exodus 8:10-19 10"Tomorrow," Pharaoh said. Moses replied, "It will be as you say, so that you may know there is no one like the LORD our God. 11The frogs will leave you and your houses, your officials and your people; they will remain only in the Nile."
12After Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh, Moses cried out to the LORD about the frogs he had brought on Pharaoh. 13And the LORD did what Moses asked. The frogs died in the houses, in the courtyards and in the fields. 14They were piled into heaps, and the land reeked of them. 15But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said.
16Then the LORD said to Moses, "Tell Aaron, `Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the ground,' and throughout the land of Egypt the dust will become gnats." 17They did this, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats came upon men and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats. 18But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not. And the gnats were on men and animals.
19The magicians said to Pharaoh, "This is the finger of God." But Pharaoh's heart was hard and he would not listen, just as the LORD had said.(NIV)
