Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait, August, 1990

In the summer of 1990 Iraq invaded Kuwait. This event landed at the end of a very important prophetic period not directly on the standard day-for-a-year timeline. That period marked the end of the period of protection that rested on the world since modern Israel signed the disenguagement of forces agreement in January 1974.

Background

The book of Revelation contains many "strange" stories that have baffled readers for centuries. One of the strangest stories in the book is the story of the "144,000" recorded in Revelation chapter 7.

This chapter reveals that some from each of the tribes of ancient Israel will be "sealed" in some way as part of the story at the end of the age.

The story of Joseph's interpretation of the Cup bearer and Baker's dreams in Genesis teaches that whenever the Holy Spirit reveals something, and His message contains a number, that number is a reference to time. Since Revelation is a message from God to people today, these counts must be indicating units of time. In the case of this list of the 144,000 sealed it is, at least in part, a reference to 144,000 units of time, most likely days.

Without belaboring the point here, the seal dates indicated when various real national documents, are signed (biblically sealed) by national bodies assembled for that purpose. These documents are spread around the world, and spread out through time. The first was signed in 1579. 144,000 days later the last was signed on January 18, 1974, when ancient Benjamin, modern Israel, signed the disengagement of forces agreement.

Yom Kippor War

This agreement effectively ending the Yom Kippor War of October, 1973, but is better known for its effect on the Suez Canal. This agreement caused the Israelis to pull back from the west bank of the canal and allowed the removal of sunk ships and the reopening of the canal to international shippers.

As a seal is typically placed in the middle of a scroll, the prophetic intervals indicated by each seal are 12,000 days wide, 6000 on either side of the seal date. 6000 days after the disengagement of forces document January 18, 1974, indicates the date when the four angels of God are free to start their wars at the end of the age.¹ The indicated date is June 22, 1991.

Seeds of the Persian Gulf War

At this point in world history Iraq and Kuwait were conducting talks over oil quotas. They share common oil fields along their border and they needed to agree on how much oil each would pump from these fields. Formal negotiations were being conducted to agree to these quotas.

Soon after the indicated date, the Iraqi delegation abruptly left the meetings and returned to Baghdad. Iraq began the process of staging an invasion of Kuwait, and the world witnessed that event August 2, 1991, when Iraqi soldiers crossed the border into Kuwait.

There is a second reference to "four angels" later in the book of Revelation. That reference contains a clue that we are indeed looking at the events in the Persian Gulf.
