The Second Woe from the Book of Revelation

We're currently in a period described as the "Second Woe" in the Book of Revelation. (The first woe was the Persian Gulf War.) The key chapter for the second woe is Revelation 10. That chapter references a city that collapses and 3.5 days of burying the dead. Chances are good we just saw part of that. This article explores.

Timing of the Second Woe

In Revelation 10, the story references a rainbow. All stories match other stories and the rainbow is extremely rare. The rainbow of Revelation 10 matches the exactly 1 other rainbow in scripture, Noah's rainbow.

Noah's rainbow hit prophetically at January 25, 1992 when Yeltsin stopped pointing Nuclear Weapons at cities of the United States. 7 biblical years from there hit December 18, 1998. This is of course the start of the 1000 day mercy period not mentioned in Revelation 10. (Off by a couple important days, we may not be clear of this for another few days.)

The 42 month period described in Revelation 10 likely starts here, in December of 1998, or near here, covering the events in the rest of the Second Woe. (The small scroll was the Wye River memorandum, the trample of Jerusalem was Clinton's trip, etc.)

The first woe, identified Saddam as the "beast from the Abyss." He confirmed it giving an Abyss speech at February 24, 1991. In the second woe he comes back, attacks and overpowers the "two." The "two" are never random two, they must match some two already seen in scripture. Since this woe is apparently nearly over, already 1000 days into it, and about 260 remain, we can narrow our search for two to the stories near here. The "two" of Revelation 10 likely matches the other pairs I've covered so far, all hitting at or near September 11, 2001.

The city collapses

At the end of the Second Woe period, chapter 11 of the Book of Revelation turns its attention to a collapse of 1/10th of a city. The following is the relevant text:

The World Trade Center contained about 10 million square feet of office space. When it was destroyed the financial district of lower Manhattan lost about 15 million square feet of space because of collateral damage in the neighborhood. The twin towers alone represend about 10 percent of the total space in the financial district. 1 This is exactly what the passage suggests we should see.

At this writing about 6,300 people are dead or missing from the disaster in New York City. It will take many more weeks before the total numbers are known. Companies with offices in the towers, as well as family members with missing relatives can both submit names to New York City authorities. Illegal immigrants, likely working custodial jobs in the towers, are also not yet recorded on the logs of the missing. We'll continue to watch as this story unfolds, but it will likely approach 7000, the number mentioned in Revelation.

Burying the dead

It could take many months before all the bodies are recovered from the wreckage of the World Trade Center towers. The formal memorial service for the dead was held Friday afternoon at the National Cathedral in Washington DC. Using Biblical time keeping, three days ended at 9:00 on Friday Morning, September 14, 2001. The national funeral service was at the 3.5 day mark.

Technically, memorials were held at noon, Friday, and each hour there after as various time zones across the United States passed 12:00 noon. They finished on the continental United States at noon, Pacific time, or 3:00 PM Eastern.

Biblical days do not always cover nights, the time spent at night can be ignored. Days have 12 hours of day light and the memorial services on Friday were thus 3.5 days after the event.
