A 30 year old secret was finally revealed. Mark Felt, a leader in the FBI, was responsible for the leaks that brought down Nixon. That story was seriously prophetic. So too were these headlines.
The resignation, if you will the "fall" of Richard Nixon was caused in large part by a leak from a person known to history only as Deep Throat.
On May 31, 2005, Vanity Fair published an article revealing the name of that person, Mark Felt.
Mark was second in command at the FBI and watched as the Nixon administration commit a host of crimes. He used a young friend at the Washington Post in order to "get the story out." His identity, though, remained secret for more than 30 years.
The resignation of Nixon is the first event on modern, 1:1, day-for-a-year prophetic replay of Bible stories. That resignation was the prophetic replay of the fall of Adam, and it provides the context for understanding allot of what has happened in the world over the past 30 years.
Nixon, himself, was like Adam and his aid, Kissinger was like Eve. By Nixon's own admission his most important act as president of the United States was to open up trade with China. This was something spearheaded by Kissinger.
The resignation of Nixon, in disgrace, was the formal start of divine punishment on the United States as a whole.
This was a prophetic act following directly stories from the Book of Genesis. The following are the key verses from a larger story:

Remember that the garden of Eden, actually in the sky, is metaphorically in the eastern parts of the world. When Kissinger, and then later Nixon, visited China they were traveling to the east and eating from that special tree. The serpent symbol, also Leviathan and Behemoth, are consistent symbols for China.
The toil that opening China, or listening to the serpent, brought on Adam's family, the United States, was a nearly total evacuation of light manufacturing from the United States to various areas in China.
It would take a few years, but eventually the availability of union wage manufacturing jobs, typically filled by people with only High School diplomas, disappeared. Instead American became a debt driven services economy.
This action was not Nixon's alone, but was a "set up" by Jesus as retribution for rejecting him in the American public sphere. That rejection still goes on today.
Note that most American families now need 2 wage earners in order to stay financially afloat. This too is a direct result of Nixon's action in China.
Because God's time line is comparatively slow, most Americans don't know, nor remember, what caused all this trouble.
One final note, the debasement of the dollar, still going on to this day, was started when Nixon broke the link between the United States dollar and gold. We still await the full fruit of that act in the American economy.
The exact prophetic story expected on May 31, 2005, was a prophetic replay of the transfiguration. Of course the story, like many in this general season, was between the disciples and Jesus and the crowds could not watch. In this case they would report later what they saw, and that revealing of a secret becomes the basis for the prophetic fulfillment.
The key verse is the last.
43 Luke 9:36

Felt's identity was kept secret for over 30 years. One article quotes a fragment of the Nixon tapes suggesting he knew much more about illegal activity in the Nixon White House and only leaked enough to get the job done.
In the case of the disciples, they waited until after the resurrection before they relayed what they had seen. Jesus was over 30 years at the resurrection and in this case it is a clue as to the 30 year timing between Nixon's era and when this headline finally made it out to the world.
The start of the transfiguration story includes a voice from heaven.
43 Luke 9:35

That voice from heaven, or voice from the cloud, in all other cases is a prophetic match to the fall of Adam. This happens at Jesus' baptism, and at the triumphal entry.
It may yet turn out that there is another prophetic replay of the entire time line beginning at this point, but for now, it is good enough to note that this is a important linkage back to Nixon's time, the modern replay of the start of the time line, aligned as it is with these other scriptural events.
To young reporters at the Washington Post, Felt was very much a senior and wiser member of their team. He was to them as this voice was to the men on the mountain.
Often the prophetic stories include direct references to the names of the people involved. In this case the name 42 is a little odd. Why was his name not Peter, or one of the other two disciples?
The answer comes from a parallel series of dates that will take on more importance when these stories pass again in January of 2008. Those stories spring from Acts 12, and the death of Herod, followed in part by the disciples deciding to include John, called Mark, in their travels.
Here we find the reference to the name.

Note that Acts 12 contains more editorial on the events of May 31, 2005. It explains the situation in Nixon's day with a little more clarity. The key text:

This story, in more complete detail, is expected in early January, 2008, but it is providing some details about Nixon. It is also providing details about the nation in the time of Nixon.
God is no longer getting the glory, and has not since the decade before Nixon's resignation.
More so than anyone else, Mark Felt was the man responsible for Nixon's downfall. In the case of Herod, he too was taken out by an angel.
There is yet another parallel story at the same place on the charts where Joseph's family returned to the land of Israel from Egypt. This was lead by a dream and is itself a timed match to the angel that appeared to Joshua at the start of the invasion of Canaan.
An angel of the Lord is anyone who is sent by YHVH to carry out his business. I dare say Mark Felt comes very close to that definition.
The 30:1 time line, derived from Jesus' ministry, is currently running in a predictive fashion. This same type of story, but with affinity to the Acts version, replays again in January of 2008.
In that season we would expect headlines dealing with more than the revealing of a secret about a past fall of an American president.
