Fig Tree Withered

The parable matches the flight to Egypt. The keyword is "millstone" which is the trips to Egypt for grain that Joseph had stored up. Jesus’ additional editorial deals with the brother’s lack of forgiveness towards each other. Matches 9071 AA, the year of going to Egypt.

Note: The fig tree withers as the drought at the time of going to Egypt withered all the vegetation in the land. This happened fast, like suggested in Matthew’s account.

This story is repeated again later as an end-of-the-age sign because he is using it to indicate the linkage to the "Fig Tree" sign used in the prophets. This use here indicates who these people are, or at least some of them.

Matthew (P) Mark (P)

41 Matthew 21:18
18In the morning, as he returned to the city, he became hungry.

41 Matthew 21:19
19And he saw a fig tree on the roadside, and he came to it and found nothing on it except leaves; and he said to it, Let there not be fruit on you again, forever. And shortly, the fig tree withered.

41 Matthew 21:20-22
20When the disciples saw it, they were amazed and said, How is it that the fig tree has withered so soon?
21Jesus answered and said to them, Truly I say to you, if you have faith, and do not doubt, you will perform a deed not only like this with the fig tree, but you will even say to this mountain, Be removed, fall into the sea, and it will be done.
22And everything that you will ask in prayer and believe, you will receive.

42 Mark 11:20
20And in the morning, as they were passing, they saw the fig tree withered from its roots.

42 Mark 11:21-26
21And Simon remembered and said to him, Master, look, the fig tree which you cursed has withered.
22Jesus answered, saying to them, If you have faith in god,
23truly I say to you, whoever should say to this mountain, be moved and fall into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will be done, it will be done to him.
24Therefore I say to you, anything you pray for and ask, believe that you will receive it, and it will be done for you.
25And when you stand up to pray, forgive whatever you have against any man, so that your father in the skies will forgive you your trespasses.
26But if you do not forgive, even your father in the skies will not forgive you your trespasses.

The Obama administration ordered the pay for top executives at companies receiving bailout money cut by as much as 90 percent.

Those companies are now in famine, and needing to rely on Egypt for food, which is a match to the historical event for this parable, the flight to Egypt for food.

This event has a matched Psalm.
