1Yahvah, do not rebuke me in your anger, nor chasten me in your hot displeasure.
2Have mercy on me, Yahvah, for I am weak; Yahvah, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
3My soul is also troubled exceedingly. Yahvah, how long?
4Return, Yahvah, and deliver my soul: save me for your mercies' sake.
5For in death there is no remembrance of you; in the grave, who will give you thanks?
6I am weary with my groaning; and every night I water my bed and wash my mattress with my tears.
7My eye is weakened because of anger; and I am troubled by all my enemies.
8Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; for Yahvah has heard the voice of my weeping.
9Yahvah has heard my supplication; Yahvah has received my prayer.
10Let all my enemies be ashamed and defeated; let them turn back and be destroyed suddenly.
Rockets From Lebanon
In the breakfast hour in Israel there was a rocket launch from locations inside Lebanon that fell on a retirement home in Northern Israel.
The impact fell through an upper floor, damaging solar water heating equipment, an upper living quarter and then it came to rest inside the retirement facility's kitchen. Luckily no one was killed. Minor injuries were reported including someone who fell on wet floors after the facility fire sprinklers went off.
The Lebanese President denounced the attack as coming from rouge elements in Southern Lebanon.
The Israelis responded soon after with air strikes at the point of launch.
About 3 hours after the rocket landed an air raid siren went off, but it turned out to be a false alarm.
Matches
Various features of the attack fit closely with the content of the Psalm, including the timing a few hours earlier than theoretical, though the later air raid siren was particularly close to theoretical time. Chances are the siren was the prophetic time marker. Here are some details.
Verse 2: Withered away and troubled bones are references to the elderly that were the victims of this attack. This theme shows up throughout the Psalm.
Verses 3-5: Being saved from death in order to witness to others is the primary Biblical editorial on why there is old age. A retirement home is an interesting venue, and all were spared in order to tell of Yahvah's salvation.
Verses 6-8: The aged nature of the victims is seen again, as well as the reference to tears, a type of water, which was prominent in this attack. The accounts mention the water storage equipment as well as sprinklers and wet floors, all matches to tears.
Verses 9-10: The enemies are put to shame, and in this case a swift retaliation on the launch point was enough to quiet the northern border of Israel with Lebanon. The formal Lebanon government did not want to start a war over this.
There is continued fear that this could become a 2 front war. The difference between now and 2006 is that Israel has cleaned up its act, having learned considerably from that war. Israel is managing this war far better than in 2006. Fear seems to have struck the nations around her. Time will tell if this holds.
