In a very unusual address, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom came to Washington DC to address a joint session of the United States Congress. The Psalm adds considerable details mocking the entire affair.
Theoretical Time:
1Judge me, Yahvah; for I have walked in my integrity; I have also trusted in Yahvah; therefore I will not waver.
2Prove me, Yahvah, and try me; examine my mind and my heart.
3For your lovingkindness is before my eyes, and I have walked in your faith.
4I have not sat with evil persons; nor have I associated with detestable persons.
5I have hated the congregation of evildoers; and have not sat with the wicked.
6I have washed my hands clean, and I have gone around your altar, Yahvah,
7that I may hear the voice of your praise and tell of all your wondrous works.
8Yahvah, I have loved the ritual of your house and the place where your glory lives.
9Do not destroy me with sinners, nor my life with bloody men,
10in whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.
11But as for me, I will walk in my integrity; save me and be merciful to me.
12My foot has stood in the straight way; in the congregation, I will bless Yahvah.
The Prime Minister of the UK, made a very unusual address to a join session of Congress. In the speech he urged the United States to squander what remains of her national wealth... No, sorry, to spend its way to prosperity.
He promised that if America would only go into debt further that there would be an explosion of wealth world wide.
Such insanity. If government deficit spending could bring prosperity, everyone on earth would be fabulously wealthy.
The Psalm has a considerable number of details about Brown and who Brown was addressing. Brown was acting in the form of the Psalm, but was not addressing the same sort of audience as would the Psalmist.
Verse 1: Walking in integrity, trusting in God. Brown advocated deficit spending. That is not integrity. Asking bankers to supply funds is not trusting in God.
Verse 2: Examine me. Brown was not examining the people he was addressing, nor their capacity for debt.
Verse 3: Walked in faith. Brown did walk, to the USA, we give him credit for that. He did not walk to a place where God would rescue him, a plea for funds is not a faith walk.
Verse 4: No sitting with evil, detestable people. Brown did exactly that with this speech. 500 some odd of them in his audience to be exact.
Verse 5: Not gone to the congress of evildoers nor sat with the wicked. Brown did the opposite, going to the congress of evildoers, and most likely sat while there.
Verse 6: Hands clean, around the altar. We don't have any reports from miss-manners. If the pattern holds Brown does not have clean hands.
Verse 7: Hear God's Voice, Tell of God's Works. Brown clearly was telling of God's works. The Exodus Plague series, what the world calls the financial crisis, is what Brown was talking about. It is God's work. The problem for Brown was his failure to ascribe that work to God, and for Brown to claim that the USA and others should fight against it. Because he was on the wrong side of the story he clearly has not heard God's voice.
Verse 8: God's House, God's Glory. Brown choose a house of the people instead of a house of God. He is into the wrong place.
Verse 9: Save Me. This is future pointing, who knows Brown's end. Pray he repent and be saved.
Verse 10: Mischief and bribes. Brown surrounded himself with mischief and bribes when he traveled to Washington.
Verse 11: Walk in integrity. Brown needs a new walk of life for that to happen.
Verse 12: Bless God in the congress. Brown talked against what God was doing. That is not blessing God in the Congress.
